POSITION: Corrugator Operator Helper
DEPARTMENT: Corrugator
Shift: 3rd Shift
Pay: $25.37/hr
JOB SUMMARY:
The Corrugator Operator Helper supports the safe and efficient operation of the corrugator by assisting operators with machine setup, material handling, quality checks, housekeeping, and general production activities. This position plays a key role in maintaining production flow, meeting quality standards, minimizing waste, and ensuring customer requirements are met while following all company safety policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all company safety rules, procedures, and work practices at all times.
- Assist corrugator operators with machine setup, order changes, and production activities to maintain efficient workflow.
- Support roll handling, paper loading, threading, splicing, paper changes, and other material handling duties.
- Verify correct paper grades, roll stock, sizes, and order components are available and prepared for production.
- Assist in monitoring product quality by inspecting corrugated sheets and identifying visible defects or irregularities.
- Help maintain production schedules by ensuring materials, supplies, and equipment are ready for operation.
- Support waste reduction efforts by properly handling materials and following established operating procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the corrugator area, including workstations, walkways, paper storage areas, and surrounding production spaces.
- Report safety concerns, quality issues, equipment malfunctions, and production delays to the appropriate supervisor or operator.
- Work cooperatively with operators, teammates, and other departments to support production goals.
- Assist in training and cross-functional activities as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous manufacturing, production, warehouse, or industrial experience preferred.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions and production schedules.
- Basic math skills and ability to read a tape measure preferred.
- Ability to work safely around moving equipment and manufacturing machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires standing and walking for extended periods, typically 8 to 12 hours per shift. Employees may be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally; bend, twist, crouch, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday. The role involves working around moving machinery, noise, heat, dust, and other manufacturing conditions commonly found in a corrugated packaging facility.
